Spring Canyon State Park is a small park, high in the Little Florida Mountains (pronounced Flo-rita).
It was a beautiful day, but the east face of the mountain still had some snow on it!
The views from Spring Canyon are amazing!
About 5 miles away is Rockhound State Park. It is at a lower elevation and is full of all kinds of cacti.
There is a nice trail that winds through the park. You are allowed to go off the trail and pick up rocks for your rock collection! There is jasper, quartz, perlite and others, including geodes. We also heard that there are quite a variety of snakes in the park - so we were glad to be there in the winter!
A little bit of snow in the cactus!
But some flowers too!
We had a great day at the parks. Rockhound has a really nice campground (much the same as City of Rocks) with plenty of room for larger rigs & pull through sites.
Before we leave Deming, we plan to take a trip to the border town of Palomas, Mexico. It is only about 35 miles south. See ya soon!
